Thinking Reeds Sciency Movie Night – Frozone vs Elsa

Join us for the December edition of Thinking Reeds SCIENCY MOVIE NIGHT!

That’s not a typo. Each Scienc-y Movie Night, we’ll watch a science themed movie, learn a little about what is real and what is Hollywood artistic license, and do some super fun experiments and activities!

This month, we’ll be watching highlights from two greats: The Incredibles (Featuring the ice-wielding superhero, Frozone) and Frozen (Featuring the ice and snow bending Queen of Arendelle, Elsa).  Join us for popcorn and the science of all things endothermic!  Except the hot chocolate, that’ll be warm.

October Sciency Movie Night – Big Hero 6!

Join us for the October edition of Thinking Reeds SCIENCY MOVIE NIGHT!

That’s not a typo. Each Scienc-y Movie Night, we’ll watch a science themed movie, learn a little about what is real and what is Hollywood artistic license, and do some super fun experiments and activities!

This month, we’ll be watching Disney Animation’s instant classic, Big Hero 6.  This movie features a protagonist whose superpower is literally chemistry.  It’s also jam packed with robotics, engineering, nanotech, programming, and all kinds of cool electronics.

There’ll be popcorn, super cool demonstrations, and some hands on activities with simple circuits as well as an introduction to Arduino programmable electronics.

Unconfirmed rumor has it that Baymax himself might make an appearance for some epic photo-ops with friends.

Science Explorers

Science Explorers is a FUN evening science enrichment program for elementary aged students, grades 2nd-6th.

Classes will cover the worlds of physics, chemistry, and biology in alternating 5 week units. Each week, we’ll do a ‘deep dive’ into a specific topic, such as magnetism, static charge, or chemical reactions. Every single hands-on class will be packed with activities, experiments, and demonstrations to ignite the imagination and maximize the potential of your future scientist!

Registration is ongoing for the following Science Explorers classes:

Tuesdays 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Thursdays 6:00 – 7:00 PM

The entire program is written and prepared by Brian Reid, PhD chemist and lifetime teacher. Classes will be taught by one of his hand-picked and super awesome science enthusiasts.

Class size: 16 max, 8:1 max student teacher ratio
Registration fee: 65/year one time fee
Tuition: Due at the beginning of the month via automated subscription. Amount varies by month, each class is 21 dollars.
Drops: Subscription may be cancelled any time. Students who drop mid-year won’t be permitted to rejoin for one calendar year.
Inclement weather and holidays will follow PISD.
Waitlist: We will maintain a waitlist year round. Be sure to get on it if your class is full!
